Rain in the Pantheon

But it was there, lit by the late afternoon sun in a way that looked, from her vantage point, in the giant doorway, as if it were raining up instead of down. She had seen it first a dozen years ago. The drops in the center of the column sparkled like diamonds as they danced and swirled to the teardrop shaped drain hidden in the colored marble floor. She was mesmerized and walked in a trance towards the center, stopping just short of where the rain fell. A trace of fog gently rose from the cold marble as the rain slowed to a drizzle.
